NESCAFÉ AZERA x The Prince's Trust 2024

For the past 10 years we have been giving young people the chance to design our NESCAFÉ AZERA packaging through our annual NESCAFÉ AZERA By Design competition.

2024 marks the fourth year of our NESCAFÉ AZERA By Design partnership with The Prince’s Trust, whereby we have donated £430,000 to the charity since the partnership began in order to directly help young people.

This year we have launched our 2024 annual NESCAFÉ AZERA By Design competition to give 4 young people the chance to design our tins of coffee to showcase their artwork to the nation, in addition to a cash prize.

What is NESCAFÉ AZERA By Design? 


The idea behind this competition is to showcase the talent of young people supported by The Prince’s Trust on a national scale, and to help start them in their careers by giving them opportunities to network with industry experts.


The designs are not only beautiful but they each spread a positive message. This year, the brief for the AZERA By Design competition was focused on ‘the beauty of connecting over a coffee’.





The history of AZERA By Design 


NESCAFÉ first partnered with University for the Creative Arts (UCA) in 2015 to launch an exciting initiative that creates limited-edition coffee tin packaging that feels different and meaningful. Working with talented graphic design students, and incorporating impactful stories and designs, has enabled us to produce designs that not only connect with the shopper but also support and celebrate cultural and personal experiences.


To make even more of an impact, we partnered with The Prince’s Trust in 2020, a charity that offers free support to help 16 to 30-year-olds develop skills and confidence to find a job or start a business. The project quickly became a fan favourite and ‘NESCAFÉ AZERA By Design’, as we like to call it, is now in its 10th year. 

‘Coffee Catch up’ by Bex Mitchell, 28 from Edinburgh


“Only now is it starting to sink in that I will be seeing my designed tin when I pop into the shops!”


Bex focused her design on positive communication portraying the importance of talking with those around us to influence a positive change.


“My design is all about how folk come together for a chat. Coffee so often plays a part in that. Communication with the right people can open minds, inspire, impact, and might even change your life. All of which can lead to positive change. “

‘The silver lining’ by Lauren Mann, 28 from Lincolnshire



“I hope that my designed Nescafé Azera tin inspires people to become the silver lining to someone else’s story.


Inspired by her own experiences of looking after elderly relatives who had dementia, Lauren’s multi award-winning business, Farrow Friends, enables the elderly to live independently within their home and local community, helping to minimize isolation.


“When someone picks up my Nescafé Azera tin, I want them to feel a sense of gratitude knowing they have the power and ability within them to reach out to someone feeling isolated and arrange to have a coffee date.”

‘Connecting C’ by Lauren Peters, 27 from London



“I look forward to seeing my design on the shelves, this will be the proudest moment of my graphic design career.”


“Creating my design allowed me to explore all the different experiences and emotions that arise when coming together over a cup of coffee. Coffee has been a journey into transitioning into adulthood, gaining knowledge, building human connections and finding inspiration.
My design emphasises creating spaces that facilitate meaningful conversations and celebrate the global coffee culture, highlighting how coffee connects people from different backgrounds.”

‘Love and Yoga’ by Lisa McQuater 25, Glasgow



“My design reflects bringing people together through yoga which is a form of love and a way to change yourself for the better from the inside out.”


“My design reflects bringing people together through yoga which is a form of love and a way to change yourself for the better from the inside out. Yoga is a universally inclusive practice that exercises this motive in each sitting. Bringing people together is very important to me as you never know when you need a helping hand.”
